...TRANSPORTATION

TPG Consulting, Inc. has extensive experience in a wide range of transportation planning projects including traffic impact studies and evaluations, circulation elements and transportation demand modeling. Various types of projects completed during the past several years include:

  • Traffic Impact Analysis/Studies
  • Circulation Elements
  • Specific Plans
  • General Plan Amendments
  • California Energy Commission (CEC) Application for Certification (AFC)
  • Sphere of Influence Updates
  • Travel Demand Modeling
  • Transportation System Management
  • Corridor Analysis

TRAFFIC IMPACT STUDIES/EVALUTIONS
TPG has prepared numerous traffic impact studies (TIS) and evaluations on a variety of land use and transportation projects. These projects vary from large-scale planned unit developments with mixed uses to redevelopment projects to specialized projects such as landfills and prisons. Specific examples include:

CIRCULATION ELEMENTS
TPG has both prepared and assisted in the preparation of numerous Circulation Elements for valley cities, updating their general plans. Examples include:

  • Corcoran Circulation Element
TPG assisted in the preparation of a Circulation Element for the City of Corcoran by providing an Existing Conditions Report. The report was prepared to assess the Existing (2005) conditions of streets and roadways within the City of Corcoran and its sphere of influence. It also documented the current status of the city's transit, bike, rail and air components. The Report was done in conjunction with the preparation of the Corcoran 2025 General Plan update.
  • Exeter Circulation Element
TPG prepared the twenty-year Circulation Element for the City of Exeter 2000 General Plan Update. The Circulation Element outlined future transportation plans for the City of Exeter including streets, highways, transit, bicycles, trucks, and rail. The Circulation Element was developed in conjunction with the Land Use Element to provide a transportation infrastructure upon which the City can build.

TRANSPORTATION DEMAND MODELING
During the transportation planning process, planners use several tools to develop information about the various impacts that could result from proposed policies and programs. One of the tools used by the planners is transportation demand modeling, which estimates the amount of travel on the transportation system and provides an abstract view of travel patterns on study facilities. The travel patterns are based on relationships developed from survey data between housing, employment sites, and transportation facilities. Transportation demand modeling analyzes both land use and circulation changes on both the local and regional scale. TPG Consulting is able to provide its clients with knowledge and experience in several transportation modeling software packages.
